The 3D purple cousin of the Koch fractal. A product of the raydiant engine. Peaceful pureness. To get a glimpse of the felling this picture gives at full resolution it may be helpful to watch some zooms here [link] Thanks for your support people!

Koch is the transform of Lévy n Cesaro, but there is little bit similar to Sierpinski. Great work man, 70 h rendering?

Yes, it is nice to program. A very classic stuff. Nothing really esoteric. The raydiant engine renders this image in minutes with good quality. The 70 hour render time is for 8000x8000 = 64 megapixel so it can be printed at large sizes with good quality. I've even walked around this fractal in real time with radiosity at low resolution with raydiant. And in preview mode the frame ratio is completely interactive at decent resolution. In fact I'm think of doing a real time game with the raydiant engine, just for fun :-)

your opinion is most welcome! In this particular image it took more effort to find the right camera and ligthing than constructing the object itself.

Ah, so you wrote the rendering engine! I'm most impressed!

a lot of us from #gfxcoders write our own rendering engines ;)

btw, you should click "reply" on the message you want to reply to, otherwise it can "get lost" - user doesn't receive notification (here it does because it's also in albert's deviation).

That's really cool! How did you make that?

thanks, I appreciate that comment from such a creative person. I specially like how you perceive and use colours. This purple fractal is constructed much like a koch one, only in 3D. It is a render of Raydiant engine, the high resolution one (8000x8000) took 70 hours to complete. The code to build this geometric object is all home made, it takes a tetrahedron and then starts substituting each face by the same face but with a smaller rotated equilateral pyramid on it. This process is repeated 9 times. By the way the object is completely gray but the only light source is a purple sphere. More info about Raydiant at www.albertoven.com :-)
